As of 00:01 on the 24th of December all travelers who enter Latvia from the United Kingdom, Denmark, Norway, Sweden, Belgium, Ireland, Germany, and the Russian Federation by plane will be obliged to present a negative PCR (test must be performed not earlier than 72 hours before boarding) or RAT (test must be performed not earlier than 48 hours before boarding) Covid-19 test result. This will pertain to all travelers, even if they hold a valid vaccination or recovery EU DCC.
If a person enters Latvia in a different way, for example by personal transport, and has not taken a Covid-19 test before entering Latvia, the person will be obliged to take a Covid-19 at the nearest laboratory in Latvia and as soon as possible, but no later than within 24 hours.
The requirements to present a negative Covid-19 test result will not apply to children under the age of 12, to persons in transit through the Republic of Latvia, employees of commercial or passenger transport service providers, crew members on cargo or passenger flights, and other exempted categories of persons as stipulated in the Cabinet of Ministers’ Regulation No. 662 “Epidemiological Safety Measures for Limiting the Spread of the Covid-19 Infection”.
The measures will be in force until January 11, 2022.
