The Latvian airline airBaltic announces that during the International Air Transport Association (IATA) Wings of Change Europe 2023 event on November 14, it has joined more than 20 airlines, by signing the IATA Safety Leadership Charter. It is aimed at strengthening organizational safety culture through commitment to eight key safety leadership-guiding principles. The Charter has been developed to support industry executives in evolving a positive safety culture within their organizations.

The guiding principles of the IATA Safety Leadership Charter include leading obligation to safety through words and actions; fostering safety awareness with employees, the leadership team, and the board; guiding the integration of safety into business strategies, processes, and performance measures; creating the internal capacity to proactively manage safety and collectively achieve organizational safety goals; creating an atmosphere of trust, where employees are encouraged and confident to report safety-related information; establishing a working environment in which clear expectations of acceptable and unacceptable behaviors are communicated and understood, creating an environment where all employees feel responsibility for safety; regularly assessing and improving organizational safety culture.
Wings of Change Europe by IATA is a flagship industry event in the region where aviation leaders, regulators, and subject matter experts come together to discuss air transport’s top issues and opportunities to jointly agree on future actions to better utilize air transport as an engine of economic and social development across the European region.
